Hometown: Wentzville, Mo.
Joined the Cedar Lake Cellars team: 2013
Top three reasons why I love working at Cedar Lake Cellars:
- 1. The staff is one-of-a-kind and very close-knit.
- The scenery. I couldn’t work anywhere that’s confined (like retail.)
- The work experience has taught me many trades that I will carry forever.
Favorite Cedar Lake Cellars Food:
Everything on the Sunday Brunch. Each week Chef pieces together the ultimate brunch, and I am in charge of replacing food throughout the morning service. As food is depleted by our hungry patrons, I replenish the supply with fresh dishes. I enjoy talking to the guests about the mouthwatering cuisine I am handling at the moment.
New Year’s Eve, 2014. All of the culinary staff dressed like Pillsbury Doughboys for the 1920s Speakeasy themed party. It was fun to dress up and cater the event as I felt myself being thrown back into that time period surrounded by enticingly beautiful flapper girls and cigar-smoking gangsters. The illusion the winery’s event team created was a phenomenal experience for both the guests and the workers.
My most impressive hidden talent:
I AM CEDAR LAKE! I’m not even sure what my job title is, but I never mind doing a little bit of everything.
Why Jake was selected as this month’s “Employee of the Month”:
Since Jake’s first day as a dishwasher, he has been the ultimate team player. His passion for people, along with his charismatic way of handling them, is not only cherished by the guests but also by his fellow employees. He handles himself, as well as his job, with an extremely wonderful work ethic. There is not a single task at Cedar Lake cellars that Jake would not try to tackle and conquer with a smile on his face. Whether it is washing dishes, bussing tables, helping someone in the lawn find a chair, or move 100 picnic tables for a guest, Jake is there to do it…and do it well.
